The Trip to Nana and Grandad

This week in the school holidays I went up north to my nana and grandad’s house. They live in a small town called Rawene in the Hokihanga.

First we packed the things we would need like clothes, food for the road & good vibes.

Next we hit the road and got ready for a six hour trip in the car.

After a few hours on the road I threw up because I get car sick when I am in a car for 3 hours.

Then we stopped to get food I had a toasted croissant with cheese, tomatoes and spinach. I also had one and a half kababs.

Once we made it to our grandparents house it was already about four o’clock and we were pretty hungry so my Nana had cooked us roast pork with roast veggies and curied veggies. She also made kutai and raw fish.

The next morning me and my brother played some video game. Then we took the car ferry to KuhoKuho because my dad found out that James Fisher-Harris is from there and if you don’t know he is transfering to the wahs (NRL) next year.

We found out that a cat was the mayor of this town this is how he became mayor:

He started off living with the post man who lived in the post office they lived together until one day the mail man died and left patches. But now he is the iconic cat because everyone feeds him and looks after him so if you go to kohu kohu bring cat treats.

After Kohkohu we went back to our grandparents where we waited for our Great Uncle and aunty.  We had a talk with them, and then they left.  Then we had fish and chips for dinner and we watched Back to the Fututure II before bed.

On Monday morning my brother, my mum and I went for a walk to get my Grandad some more candies, as he loves candies.  After this we said good bye and made our trip back home.  On the way home we stopped at a Thai restaurant where we had fish cakes, spring rolls, fried rice and croissants, it was delicious!  Finally we did anouther six hour drive home.
